Blindness is not a disability. It’s an opportunity to see past our limitations. Paul Fordham learned this from his father, a classically trained pianist who was blind from birth. Today, as the co-CEO of Homeward Bound of Marin, Paul works to end homelessness in Marin County, California. In this episode, he invites us to recognize how limitations shape our thinking and foster judgment. “We all have the capacity to grow,” he says, and notes that judgment holds us back from seeing who people really are.
What does it take to shift perspective? Are limitations destiny or opportunity? Can we come to a conversation open to discovering shared values?
Rather than make assumptions about others, Paul advocates staying curious, asking questions, and making an authentic connection. The stories he shares show us how.
At Homeward Bound, Paul plays an integral role in fundraising, social enterprise development, program oversight, and strategic planning. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two sons.
